Job Description

We are looking for a master thesis student that can develop a mobile friendly 3D crowd rendering system using the latest Unity DOTS (Data Oriented Technology Stack) / ECS (Entity Component System) technology integrated with Frever avatar system. Your responsibility is to design and program systems or tools that render as many characters as possible to a reasonable frame rate, energy consumption and memory utilization together with the Frever Mobile 3D Editor.


What You’ll Do

  • Develop a user friendly mobile front-end to instantiate crowds made up of hundreds of characters

  • Define suitable character LOD level for meshes and textures. Set appropriate variation of clothing items and body movement to have realistic crowd behaviour

  • Develop crowd deployment boundaries so characters are only rendered at visible camera viewports

  • Be able to select multiple clothes, body animations and apply them to sub-groups of crowds from Frever Mobile 3D Editor

  • Suggest on best RAM, draw calls and vertices utilization for devices ranging from Iphone 6S to the latest Iphone 11 Pro

  • Write scripts that automatically registers crowd animation clothing items and body animation selections in the Frever PostgreSQL database on Amazon RDS and S3

  • Integrate solution in Frever Mobile 3D Editor

  • Research and use best practices around crowd rendering systems (GPU instantiation/multithreaded design/LODs) to achieve best look. Suggest 3rd party solutions if more appropriate (e.g. from Unity Asset Store or Github)


Who You Are

  • Fluent in English 

  • Experience with Unity and rendering pipelines

  • Knowledge of C#


Bonus Points

  • Up to date knowledge of Unity latest technology stacks (DOTS/ECS/Burst/Job System/Universal RP/LWRP)

  • Great interest in 3D rendering systems
